Description

SRW01 – WEG Smart Relay

Full management, monitoring and protection system for low-voltage electric motors In order to become more competitive, companies need to minimize costs while maximize productivity. Therefore, it is essential that the processes present high levels of availability, avoiding downtime and losses. With accurate real time information of each element that interacts with the process, it is possible to know each step behavior for in the operation of the plant, and thus monitor the process variables so as to prevent machinery and equipment downtime. In most processes, the movement is driven by low voltage electric motors. For the protection, monitoring and management of the electric motor, it is vital that all of its variables are measured. This is possible through a Smart Relay. WEG Smart Relay SRW01 has the necessary functions to protect the electric motors, allowing monitoring and controlling them via communication networks, in addition to identifying parameter and status information of the electric motor in real time.

Total control of low-voltage electric motors

Versatility:
The SRW01 can be connected in communication networks: DeviceNet, Modbus-RTU and Profibus- DP, through a communication module that enables the user to change the communication protocol in an easy and quick way, which is automatically recognized by the Smart Relay. The SRW01 has a measurement set that enables the user to access all of the magnitudes of the electric motor power supply, such as current, voltage, frequency and power factor. WEG standard smart relay features four digital inputs and four digital outputs, which can be expanded through the expansion digital unit, EDU. This unit can provide up to ten digital inputs and eight digital outputs. An important feature of the product is the HMI with built-in memory, which allows system monitoring, relay programming and storage of up to three sets of parameters and three user’s programs. The Easy access to the relay parameters is possible through the USB port, which enables the monitoring and programming of the relay via personal computer with the WLP (WEG Ladder Program) software.

Flexibility
The modular concept of the product simplifies the assembly and integration within a motor control center. With a control unit and a measuring set, it is possible to design the smart start with the arrangement of the components in a flexible way, seeing that these units can be up to two meters apart or joined making up a single set (1). The smart relay offers preprogrammed operating modes to perform different types of starters. The functions of the digital inputs and outputs are set quick and easily, according to the operating mode and the user’s program. The user can also creates own starter by using the Transparent mode, in which digital inputs and outputs are programmed according to user’s requirements. With the thermal image of the motor, even after the turning-off of the smart relay, the internal temperature of the motor is calculated, preventing it from operating overheated due to cyclical starts. The internal thermal protection of the motor is available through PTC sensors that protect the motors in situations where they exceed the limit for which they were designed. Additionally, ground fault sensors can be installed, raising the level of system protection.
